Dentures Northampton – Full Dentures or Partial Dentures
Dentures, commonly known as ‘false teeth’ are removable appliances that are constructed to replace missing teeth. Many of our denture patients tell us that getting modern, comfortable, false teeth changed their life.
Maybe you are fed up of feeling self-conscious about unsightly gaps in your smile. Or maybe your existing dentures are uncomfortable or you feel like your dentures do not fit properly. At Aspects Dental, we can give you the latest modern plastic acrylic dentures.
They’re hardwearing and mimic the look and feel of teeth and gums to give you a beautiful, natural-looking new smile. They fit snugly and comfortably on your gums and you can easily take them out for cleaning. They’re usually much cheaper than other missing teeth treatments including Dental Implants.
If you leave the gaps in your smile untreated your remaining teeth can start growing into the spaces and become crooked. Please come to see Aspects Dental to find out if dentures could change your life and we can advise you which dentures are best for you and your smile.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF DENTURES
• Full Dentures – Are used when a patient has lost all of their teeth. We offer Plastic Acrylic Full Dentures which can be used to replace all your missing teeth, including separately, for all your teeth in either your upper or lower jaw.
• Partial Dentures – Are used to replace a group of a few, or several separate teeth, when a patient still has some of their own teeth. We offer Plastic Acrylic Partial Dentures & Light Alloy Metal Partial Dentures. Please watch the following animated video to find out How Do Partial Dentures Work & What Do Partial Dentures Look Like.
• Denture Repair – If you already have existing Dentures that are broken or cracked, then we can offer an Emergency Dentures Repair Service, where we can repair your Dentures either Same Day or ready for the next day for you.
Typically our denture patients will often need to have some teeth removed first and Dentures can be made either as an immediate replacement for teeth or made conventionally.
Immediate Dentures…
• Immediate Dentures are made in advance and are fitted as soon as the teeth are extracted.
• Immediate Dentures will need more adjustments as the tooth extraction site heals.
• Immediate Dentures are a temporary solution and the dental patient will likely need a new denture in the up and coming months.
Conventional Dentures…
• Conventional Dentures are made 8-12 weeks after the extraction of the teeth to allow healing of the bone and gums.
• There are four stages of making conventional dentures which are a series of impressions, record of how the upper and lower jaw relate to each other, try-in phase to confirm with the dental patient the shape, colour and fit of the denture and then to fit the final dentures.
ADVANTAGES OF DENTURES
• Can replace multiple teeth with one denture.
• Improve aesthetics.
• Assist in chewing food.
• Prevent neighbouring teeth from drifting and over-erupting.
• Affordable price when compared to Dental Implants or Dental Bridges.
DISADVANTAGES OF DENTURES
• Imperfect fit due to changing structure of the mouth.
• Unpredictable tolerance from dental patient.
• Difficulty in chewing hard and sticky foods.
• Need to be removed when sleeping.
• May need denture fixative to aid retention.
