We resumed seeing patients face-to-face on Monday 8th June 2020, but as the patients who have already visited us since will tell you, things are far from what we considered normal.
Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.
The government announced that the national alert level had dropped to a level 3 on Friday 19th June 2020. This means that we can start offering a wider range of dental treatments now compared to what we have been offering over the last four weeks.
One of these services which has been in high demand is our Dental Hygienist Services. We are happy to announce that we will resume our Dental Hygienist Appointments from the 1st July 2020.

However, at the current national alert level we will only be able to offer hand scaling as opposed to the ultrasonic scaling you would have been used to having in the past.
Ultrasonic scalers are not currently permitted as they release a cloud of aerosols from the mouth which are known methods for the transmission of COVID-19 from person to person.
Hand scaling is as effective, if not more, than ultrasonic scaling in preventing and treating gum disease. Hand scaling does take longer and hence all Dental Hygienist Appointments will be booked for longer, at the same treatment fee.
Polishing is also not permitted under the current alert level due to the risk of splatter of saliva during polishing. This is also a known method of transmission of COVID-19 from person to person.
Ultrasonic scaling and polishing will be resumed once the national alert level has fallen to level 2. Our regulatory bodies have written a joint letter on the 22nd of June 2020 stating what is currently permitted. If you wish to read this letter – Please Click On The Link Here
Our Dental Practice follows infection control guidelines made by the governing bodies. We are up-to-date on new guidance that has been issued.
Please note that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to recommendations to keep COVID-19 infection risks as low as possible, but as ever, the risk will never be completely eliminated.
